A breast lift raises and enhances the shape of the breasts by removing excess skin caused by weight fluctuations, pregnancy, or simply the natural aging of the skin.

This procedure is highly effective in rejuvenating the appearance of the breasts and is often combined with breast augmentation or reduction to perfect the breast shape and achieve the desired result.

Breast sagging, or breast ptosis, is caused by excess skin in the upper part of the breasts, characterized by an unsightly hollowed appearance. Consequently, the lower part of the breasts becomes noticeably more prominent.

  • Do not smoke for at least one week before your surgery.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol during the week leading up to your procedure.
  • Discontinue the use of aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications at least 15 days prior to your operation.
  • Stop taking oral contraceptives 20 days before your surgery.

The incision will be made differently depending on the patient’s specific needs. Generally, the incision circles around the areola, then extends vertically down to the inframammary fold (the natural skin crease beneath the breast), and finally follows this fold horizontally. Depending on the extent of corrections required, a more or less reduced version of this incision may be used to achieve an optimal result. Excess skin will be removed to lift the breast, existing tissues can be reshaped, and the areola may be repositioned higher if necessary.

A breast lift is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 1 hour. An overnight hospital stay is required.

To properly recover from the surgery, you should plan for 7 to 12 days off work and avoid sports activities for 6 weeks. Additionally, you will need to wear a compression bra day and night for several weeks. The procedure can last up to two hours, and an overnight hospital stay is usually required.

The breasts are lifted into an appropriate position and freed from excess skin, significantly enhancing their appearance. The final result can be assessed between 6 and 10 months after the surgery.
