Pre-operative Instructions
Discontinue contraceptive pills or hormonal implants at least one month before the procedure.
Avoid any medication containing aspirin for ten days prior to surgery.
Cessation of smoking is strongly recommended.
Course of the Procedure
A preoperative consultation is always conducted before any cosmetic surgery. This allows your doctor to better understand your expectations and needs. The surgeon will also examine your face as a whole and tailor the treatment to your individual facial structure.
The surgeon makes incisions near your temples, extending them along the face to form a “U” shape. These incisions are placed as close to the ears as possible to minimize visibility.
Next, the skin is lifted, excess skin is removed, and the remaining skin is repositioned. At the end of the procedure, a compression dressing is applied around the head, which should be worn overnight at the clinic.
After surgery, swelling and bruising may appear on your face. These will resolve naturally within a few days. Some discomfort may also be experienced, but it can be managed with pain medication.
Duration of the Procedure
A cervicofacial lift is performed under general anesthesia and requires at least one overnight stay in the hospital. The procedure typically lasts between one and two hours.
Return to Work
A recovery period and work leave of 7 to 10 days should be anticipated.
For sports and physical activities, it is recommended to wait 1 to 2 months before resuming.
Result
During the recovery period, the treated area should be kept clean and dry. Small incisions are closed with fine sutures. A compression garment should be worn for several weeks to help reduce swelling, refine the silhouette, and prevent fluid accumulation in the treated areas.
Results can typically be observed after approximately six weeks, although most patients notice a slimming effect in the treated area much sooner.
